statement of intent speaking from experience 2

Ok since the crit Ive been thinking about my intenstions for this project, and I went away from the crit at a bit of a loss of what to do because simply producing posters that essentially say "don't worry about it, heres a pretty picture" - isnt really good enough, however the problem itsself ( what kind of people will be on my course?) is good enough to go with.

anyway, after some brainstorming Ive started looking into a welcome pack that caters for specific people, and includes within it paper based products that these specific people would hopefully find beneficial or at least interesting!

So, the catagories of people that I've been lookin at making this for are:

  • People with shyness and confidence issues

- To tackle this Ive been researching ice breaking games (despite how much everyone hates them.) Name badges and things like the recognition day postcards.

  • People with bad organisation and time management skills:

-for this Ive been looking at things like year planners and schedules, such as the year planner by crispin finn.

Other catagories im looking at are people who struggle to engage and i want to have a look at doing a visual reading list for this. Also people to dont feel prepared for the course. ( the projects side of things.)

I think by doing it this way It gives me something weightyer to work towards and also the piece will be useful. This still gives me scope to produce it however i want because for the next week or so I just want to nail the content. The only thing I know about the aesthetic side of things is that I want it all to have a uniform design with a limited colour pallette on limited and really nice stocks. I also know I want to do some screenprinting.

I want to produce something that can be kept for initially its functionality in the early stages of the course but then as a momento. I want what i produce to have a interactivity to it and be something that will inform and instruct towards the speicified people. Im keeping my target audience as 18 - 25's despite hearing there is an older base of students attending the course next year.
